Global Entrepreneurship Week 2020 Faisalabad

Global Entrepreneurship Week 2020 happened during November 16 – 22, 2020 with 40,000 events in 180 countries all around the world. Connect Ventures team organized multiple events during #GEW2020 in collaboration with Digital Faisalabad, Startup Grind Faisalabad, AWS Scouts, SEED Limited, DigitalSofts, WebSolUK, and Innovation Lab.

This is 1st time, GEW has been celebrated in Faisalabad. According to official website (https://www.genglobal.org/gew) we organized 4 events in this week.

All the events were broadcasted LIVE on Facebook, and viewed by more than 2000 people during Global Entrepreneurship Week 2020. Due to COVID-19 we could not arrange physical events this year, but we hope the situation will be better next time and we will be able to do more events offline and online in collaboration with local Tech Industry and Academia.

IBD Pakistan Launching Ceremony

IBD formaly launched its local presence in a exclusive ceremony, held at Pearl Continental Hotel, Lahore. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests from Media Groups, Corporate & Public Sector. Mr. Jahanzaib Bhurana, CEO, Board of Investment & Trade, Government of Punjab was the Chief Guest  of event.

The event started with Chairman IBD Mr. Yousuf Al-Jaber’s video message. Mr. Zain Majid, will be the Ambassor for Lahore and surrounding reagion, Mr Majid is an entrepreneur who is best known for his unorthodox and non-conventional expertise. IBD2020 would be a great opportunity to access an International Investment Network through the IBDSummit which is going to be largest gathering of Investors, Influencers and Innovators from around the world. Exciting connections, ventures and partnerships will be taking place during the 4 days summit. International Business Delegation Summit 2020 will be happening in Doha, from April 6th – 9th 2020.

Connect Ventures team attended the opening ceremony with delegates from Faisalabad including Mr. Adeel Javaid, CEO of Career Institute and Mr. Shahid Aslam, CEO of DigitalSofts and Chairman of FCCI Standing Committee for Startups Entrepreneurship and Export Development, and invited IBD Summit team to bring this opportunity to share with entrepreneurs and business people of Faisalabad soon.

Faisalabad IT Landscape 2020

Faisalabad is 3rd Largest City of Pakistan, with a population of 3.2 million people and an area of 1300 km2 (City). we have gathered some facts to highligh the current dynamics of IT Industry of Faislabad. The city has got all the resources required to be one of best IT/ITES outsourcing destination. We got all the basic ingredients to be considered as attractive investment destination.

We are gradually building better institues, collaborative communities, and looking forward to have our own Special Economic Zone for IT, IT Parks and World class Incubators and Work Spaces with public private partnership very soon.

Our ecosystem is one of the youngest in country, and startup culture is penetrating as career choice of youth due to slow jobs market and growing freelancing economy.

TechStars Startup Weekend Faisalabad 2019

TechStars Startup Weekend Faisalabad 2019 held on 29th November till 01 December, 2019 at FAST National University – Chiniot Faisalabad Campus (CFD). Over 140+ individuals registered, around 100 appeared for registration and 74 individuals showed courage to participate in 54 hours activity to form teams and build 12 best ideas into presentable prototypes and business model.

Background

Connect Ventures team started working on bringing TechStars Startup Weekend to Faisalabad in late 2018, due to certain reasons or circumstances we could not form a team good enough to execute, after a delay of over an year, we finally got people to join us, and successfully organised 1st Tech Stars Startup Weekend event in collaboration with FAST National University – CFD Campus.

City of Austin Delegation Visit to Faisalabad

A 4 Member Delegation from City if Austing, Texas, USA along with guests from Innovation District 92, Lahore visited Faisalabad on November 13th, 2019 to explore bileteral opportunities for Fashion Forward Initiative under ATX-Pak Advance (ATX+PAK Entrepreneurship Program by US Department of State).

Delgation visited Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and had a detailed meeting with Textile manufacturers interested to learn about the ATX-Pak Advance program and its intiatives, specially in Fashion Industry. Delegates from City of Austin discussed and answered the queries of meeting participents.

After the meeting at Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the delegates took a facility tour of one of well known garments manufacturing unit in Faisalabad, Fashion & Trends Private Limited. F&T is one of largest manufacturers and suppliers of American Eagle, which is a well known US fashion brand.

Last visit of the day was to meet Rector of National Textile University, Faisalabad and have a tour of University Labs and training facilities. Delegates met with honourable Rector, Dr. Tanveer Hussain, and discussed about possible opportunities between NTU and University of Texas.

1st Entrepreneurs Festival Faisalabad 2018

1st Entrepreneurs Festival Faisalabad held on January 19, 2018 at University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. Event has been inaugrated by Mr. Shabbir Hussain Chawla, President of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who was accompanies by Dr. Habib Aslam Gaba, Mr. Altaf Hussain from Connect Ventures, and other honourable members of FCCI.

Event has been hosted by University of Agriculture at Exhibition Center, organised by ORIC in collaboration with Askolay, WorldBank’s WomenX Program, USDA, Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry and in Partnership with Connect Ventures (Connvent) among many other Supporting partners and associates.

EFF18 was a great initiative for promoting & redefining Entrepreneurship culture in Faisalabad. 50+ local entrepreneurs showcased their ideas during the event. More than 2000 people from different walks of life visited the venue to learn about the businesses showcased by aspiring entrepreneurs from Faisalabad.
